@phrosnite said: ' This magazine is pretty new, eh? What other games have they reviewed?
'If you mean 'new' as in 'not too long on the market' - no. It started in 1996 and since then they're still selling a lot of issues every month. If you mean 'new' as in 't came out this month' you're correct - the premiere of this issue was today.
CD Action, despite the name, hasn't got anything to do with CD Projekt. The 'CD' naming theme in polish gaming market became a fad around early '90s for obvious reasons, but there's no relationship between the magazine and the developer. But yeah, game writers from Poland are (in general) so hyped for Witcher it borders ridiculousness. But the whole franchise is a SERIOUS BUSINESS (and I mean SERIOUS) out here in Poland, so it's somewhat understandable. The Witcher has a cult following here in Poland; the book series is incredibly popular. Also, as @Yoghurt mentioned, the magazine's name doesn't have anything to do with CD Projekt; the vast majority of the Polish gaming community plays on gaming PCs (and by vast I mean vast) and consoles have very little popularity.
As far as I'm concerned we had almost no console on the market up until maybe the PS2 or a little earlier (we didn't even have a NES here, only a cheap knockoff called Pegasus). As far as the credibility of the review goes: I must admit I consider CD-Action a little PC biased, also the hype for the game has been pretty damn big. I'd take the 9.5 score with a grain of salt. @weeman105 said: ' the world exclusive Wticher 2: Assassins of Kings review. I wish they were more in-depth.
That is really short to be considered a review and it didn't really mention much about what I am most concerned about for the sequel: how the combat controls. The combat style/mechanics are what really turned me off of the first game so I'm sincerely hoping it feels better this time around. Timing mouse clicks to coincide with the flaming sword icon was just boring.
'I combat feels better on the HARd mode because that flaming sword icon is gone but the combat system is still average at best. Witcher 2 abandons all that. Left mouse is for light blows, right mouse button - heavy.

No stance switching. I don't think the new system will be better. In the Witcher 2 expect a lot of rolling. Reminds me of Tomb Raider. Edit: The game has a block button, yo. Action game, anyone? @Undeadpool: Every book in the saga ends like that, even the last one.
Yeah, it has some definite closures on many plot threads, but the ending is not a simple resolution of the whole story. So yeah, be prepared for a lot of cliffhangers.
I don't envy all those foreign readers, most of polish fans had a chance to read all five books in the row. I wonder how the translation looks by the way, I do't consider myself huge fan of Sapkowski, but I must admit, the guy has mad skills with his native language.
